Calm Sensory Reset
Low-stimulation soundscapes for sensory overload, transitions and quiet recovery time.
Slow tempos around 60 to 80 BPM are linked to lower heart rate and a calmer nervous system.
Focus and Flow
Gentle, repetitive textures that support attention, study and creative work without overstimulating.
Predictable, instrumental music can ease task-switching and support sustained focus.
Sleep and Wind Down
Long, slow pieces to ease the body into rest. Use with low light, a weighted blanket or a calm routine.
Sleep onset improves with quiet, predictable sound and a consistent pre-sleep cue.
Gentle Joy
Uplifting without being loud. For mornings, sensory-friendly gatherings and slow, happy days.
Familiar, predictable melodies can support emotional regulation and connection.
Make a playlist that fits your nervous system.
A simple recipe that works well for many autistic and anxious listeners. Start slow, stay predictable, end gently. Pick tracks you already love, novelty can over-stimulate.
- 01 Start with 2 to 3 very slow instrumental pieces, under 80 BPM.
- 02 Add 3 to 4 familiar songs with steady rhythm, no sudden drops.
- 03 Close with 2 ambient or piano tracks to ease back to silence.
- 04 Keep total length 25 to 40 minutes, the length of a regulation cycle.
Rotarians For Autism is a non-commercial, volunteer-led Rotary initiative. We charge nothing for access to this page or any feature on it. We do not run advertising, accept donations, sell merchandise, or earn affiliate revenue from any link, embed, playlist, or platform shown here.
We do not host, cache, upload, transcode, or distribute any audio or video. Every piece of music on this page is played through the official, publicly available embed players provided by YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. Each play is served directly from those platforms, counts toward the artist on those platforms, and is governed by each platform's own terms of service and privacy policy. All compositions, recordings, names, artwork, and trademarks remain the property of their respective artists, labels, publishers, and rights holders.
Playlists are curated and briefly described for non-commercial, educational, and therapeutic awareness purposes consistent with the doctrine of fair use (and the fair dealing provisions of Section 52 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957). We link to publicly available works, add transformative editorial commentary about why a selection may support sensory regulation or wellbeing, and we do not reproduce the underlying works themselves.
If you are an artist, rights holder, or authorised representative and would like a playlist link, embed, or description removed, we will honour that request promptly and without challenge. Please write to rotariansforautism@gmail.com with the URL of the page, the specific item to be removed, the work it relates to, and a statement of your relationship to the rights. We aim to action verified requests within 72 hours.
Each embed exposes the original platform's native controls, including play/pause, volume, and captions on YouTube videos that provide them. Starting any embed here automatically pauses our own ambient background sound so audio never overlaps. Music is a supportive companion, not a substitute for clinical therapy or crisis care.
